SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's tennis team won its home opener with a sweep of visiting NCAA Division III Mills College on Saturday afternoon at Forest Meadows Tennis courts.
Freshman
Irina Morozova dispatched Corrin Geibig 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 1 singles match while fellow freshman
Shannon McCarthy-Contreras got the start in the No. 2 singles position and made quick work of Quinn Harris, 6-0, 6-1.
Senior
Michele Freitas defeated in the No. 3 position, both by the score of 6-1, 6-1.
It was a close one for senior
Tami Tan in the No. 4 slot but she pulled out the 6-3, 6-4 victory over Christine Ferry.
Senior
Anh Truong defeated Sarah Knight 6-1, 6-1 and
Ryan Paulus defeated Nina Sabahi 6-4, 6-3 for the singles sweep.
The Lady Penguins (1-2) won all three doubles matches by the score of 8-0.
Dominican is right back in action on Sunday when they head to Notre Dame de Namur University. First serve in Belmont is slated for 12:00 p.m.
