SAN RAFAEl, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's tennis team pushed no. 50 Dixie State College on Tuesday but fell short 5-4 at Forest Meadows Tennis Courts.
Stephanie Lemp came from behind to earn the number one singles win for Dominican (2-2) over Aliciia Holm, 2-6, 6-1, 7-6, 7-5.
Michele Freitas also continued her strong play, earning the number two win over Lydia Hays, 6-2, 6-1.
Anh Truong also came from behind to secure a win in the number four slot for Dominican, 3-6, 7-5, 10-4.
Lemp and Freitas defeated Courtney Kezerian and Holm 8-5 for the number one doubles win. The Red Storm (6-5), ranked no. 10 in the West Region, took the remaining doubles matches by scores of 8-2 and 8-0.
Dixie State returns to Forest Meadows Tennis Courts on Saturday, March 13 when the Lady Penguins have another chance at the Red Storm. Match time is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. On Sunday, March 14 Dominican hosts a doubleheader against Academy of Art University with matches set at 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
