Women's Tennis Records Season Sweep of NDNU

Stephanie Lemp won her No. 1 singles and doubles matches to help propel the Lady Penguins to a 5-4 win over NDNU on Friday afternoon.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's tennis team completed a series sweep of visiting Notre Dame de Namur University with a close 5-4 decision on Friday afternoon at Forest Meadows Tennis Courts.

The Lady Penguins (3-9) defeated the Argonauts (1-11) 6-3 in the teams' last meeting. This time, Dominican rebounded after trailing 2-1 after doubles play despite Stephanie Lemp and Michele Freitas winning the No. 1 match 8-0.

Lemp earned a victory at the No. 1 singles slot by scores of 6-2, 6-3, as did Freitas at the No. 2 position, by scores of 6-1, 6-0. Anh Truong secured the victory as the No. 3 player, 6-1, 6-2, having moved up a position since the two teams last met. Caskey Cunningham recorded two straight 6-2 decisions to secure the victory for the Dominican women, who close out their regular home schedule.

The Lady Penguins do have one more match at home, an exhibition against Santa Rosa Junior College on April 6. First serve is slated for 2:00 p.m.
