Five Women's Soccer Players named to All-PacWest Team

PHOENIX, AZ – The All-PacWest Team was announced by the Pacific West Conference Media Relations Office in Phoenix, Ariz., on Wednesday. Dominican University of California listed five All-PacWest selections in 2009, the program's first year as a member of the PacWest.

Defense First Team pick Katie Brown produced 10 points on a goal and eight assists in 18 starts, leading the PacWest in total assists and in assists per game (0.44).
 
The midfield squad featured freshman Stephanie Malone as an Honorable Mention and senior Eleanna Mendez earning Second Team accolades.
 
In 20 games, Malone had 13 points on six goals and one assist with one game-winner, while Mendez posted 15 points on six goals and three assists with one game-deciding score.
 
Junior Bridget Folan earned Second Team honors as a forward after posting 16 points on five goals and a half-dozen assists. She tied for third in total assists in the conference, while she also tied for ninth in total points and tied for seventh in assists per game (0.32). She scored a pair of game-winning goals this season.
 
In addition to Folan at forward, freshman Mary Wheeler was named Honorable Mention at the same position. She scored six goals and added two assists for 14 points in 20 starts this year.

The Lady Penguins finished the 2009 campaign with an 8-9-3 overall mark. In PacWest competition the Dominican women finished at 6-6-2, good for sixth place, a slot above the seventh spot that they were picked to finish.
