SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — Generations of past and present met on Saturday at the Conlan Center, as the 2009 Dominican University of California volleyball squad faced off with alumnae from prior teams.
It was a great day for Dominican volleyball, as generations of players took the court. Alumna
Bridget Moran '82, now a grandmother, was the senior member of the squad, coached by former Dominican head coach
Susan Huffman. It was also an historic day for the Woodall family, as sisters
Jennifer Woodall '00 and
Jessical Woodall '06 faced their sister, current senior
Jacqueline Woodall.
While the current squad took the match 3-1 (plus a bonus fifth set) - with scores of 25-15, 15-18, 21-25, 25-13 - the alumnae proved they could still play, swiping the third set. An
Amanda Deely '08 service ace and a kill by
Bridget Gengler '08 capped the third set victory, which sent the crowd roaring.
The festivities ended at the Woodall household, where the Woodall family and Domiican's Office of Alumni Relations hosted a a dinner for the generations of Lady Penguins.
