AZUSA, Calif.- Dominican women's volleyball wrapped up their 2025 season Saturday afternoon squaring off against the Cougars of Azusa Pacific. Freshman standout
Alexis Schwartz had herself a match collecting a career high 26 kills to go along with 18 digs which was good enough for second on the team.
Fellow freshman
Cierra Ray brought the energy in this one as she was flying all over the court collecting dig after dig leading to a team high 22. Schwartz and Ray have led the freshman class this year and the future is looking bright for the black and gold.
The Penguins came out firing against the Cougars in the first set building a small lead and never looking back. Schwartz, the Carlsbad native, started the game slamming home consecutive kills which were both assisted by
Chloe Cruz. Then midway through the set Dominican would go on a 6-0 scoring lead led by Schwartz and sophomore
Kali Young. This run would propel the Penguins to the set victory, and it was senior
Kendal Kibanoff who secured the point with a nice service ace.
Schwartz would finish the match with a team high 26 kills while senior leader
Avery Schneider and Young were behind her with eight and seven. Speaking of Cruz, the sophomore out of Cerritos, she was setting up teammates all day as she dished out a game and career high 37 assists.
