Sister Marion Irvine, O.P., the “Flying Nun,” is an accomplished runner and has been an inspirational supporter of Dominican. Sister Marion qualified for the 1983 U.S. Olympic Trials in the marathon; shattered all major running records in the 50–54, 55–59, and 60–64 age groups; and earned five gold medals at the World Veteran Games in Eugene, Oregon. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Dominican in 1953, followed by a Teaching Credential in 1961 and a Master’s degree in Education in 1971.
