IRVINE, Calif. – Dominican University of California continued its strong academic success as 192 student-athletes were selected to the Academic All-PacWest Team as announced by the conference office Wednesday.
The Penguins had 88.1 percent of their 218 student-athletes earn the honor, finishing just two selections shy of last year's department record of 194. The total is the second highest in Dominican history after the Penguins set a new department best during the 2024-25 academic year.
Women's soccer led Dominican and the PacWest with 38 honorees, finishing with 100 percent of its roster on the academic team. The Penguins were also second among all women's programs in the conference, trailing only Concordia's women's track and field team with 40 selections.
Men's cross country, men's golf, women's golf and women's soccer each had 100 percent of their rosters represented on the Academic All-PacWest Team. Softball had 21 of 22 student-athletes recognized, while women's basketball had 14 of 15 and volleyball had 19 of 21. Dominican also had 11 student-athletes finish with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average.
Across the conference, 2,700 student-athletes earned Academic All-PacWest honors, an average of 208 per school. The PacWest also had 172 student-athletes record a perfect 4.0 grade-point average.
To qualify for the Academic All-PacWest Team, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, complete at least two semesters at their institution and participate in regular-season competition or redshirt in one of the conference's 15 sponsored sports.
