Dylan Snyder named interim head coach for DUC MLAX

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.- Dominican University of California Athletics announced that Dylan Snyder has been promoted to the interim head coach for men's lacrosse. Snyder, the San Rafael native, was the defensive coach last season for the Penguins.

"We are excited about this new chapter for Dominican Men's Lacrosse, Coach Snyder has a bright mind for the sport," senior associate director of athletics Phil Billeci-Gard said. "Dylan has installed a sense of energy, enthusiasm, and passion that has positively impacted the program, the campus and entire DU lacrosse community."

Snyder has spent 20 years in lacrosse, 15 in the Bay Area. He starred at nearby Marin Catholic playing and learning from legendary coach Will McGettigan. After graduating from Marin Catholic, Snyder went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Whitman College in Washington. He would then further his education and receive a Master of Science in Behavioral Economics oversees at the University of Nottingham

Prior to his second stint with Dominican, Snyder spent four years serving as an assistant coach in the Marin Catholic program. Snyder's first stint with the Penguins was during the 2016-17 season where he was a volunteer defensive assistant for Sammy Vogel-Seidenberg. In addition to Marin Catholic he also served as the Vice President, Director of National Teams, and Head Coach of the Men's team for the Association of France Lacrosse (AFL). When he began with France in 2016 they finished 23rd of 24 teams and there were no official records of lacrosse in France. Now they sit firmly in 8th place in Europe and a top 20 place globally with over 300 players actively involved.

"I want to thank Amy, Phil, and the rest of the Dominican Athletics administration team for giving me the opportunity to lead our men's lacrosse program," Snyder said. "I plan on bringing a championship mentality to Dominican on and off the field, the fun part about building a program is everyone who wants to be part of this, can be!"
