Wright shatters Penguins 10k record

BILLINGS, Mont. – Jared Wright shattered the 10k record for Dominican men's cross country on his way to a ninth place finish at the NCAA West Regionals at Amend Park.

Chico State won the team title with 48 points while Charlie Dannatt of Simon Fraser took home the individual Championship with a time of 30:07.49.

In snowy and cold conditions, Wright stayed focused on his goals and followed through with the best post-season race in Dominican's history. Wright competed in the top grouping of runners as he beat out Omar Alvarez-Hernandez of Chico State by .36 seconds with a time of 30:33.08 to secure the first top-10 finish for a Penguin runner. His time topped the previous Dominican record of 32:39.0 set by Buay Deng in 2019 by over two minutes.

Wright now awaits to see if he earned an at-large selection to the NCAA Championships hosted in Seattle on December 2.
