San Rafael, CA -- The Dominican men's lacrosse team has announced its schedule for the 2023 campaign, highlighted by home matchups with Minnesota, Washington and Texas A&M.
The Penguins look to build off their best season in program history and their first ever playoff appearance, playing a 14-game regular season featuring five opponents ranked in the final 2022 coaches' poll.
The Penguins open the season with a trip to southern California to take on last year's SLC D1 champions USC. The team then hits the road for a big trip to Oregon to take on Oregon State and Oregon. The Penguins will play their first home game of the season against WCLL South Opponent UCSB following the trip north to Oregon. The Penguins finish their first month with a road game against another WCLL South Opponent, Stanford, followed by a home game against San Diego State the same weekend. The Penguins will start March with a rematch against Minnesota at home, before hitting the road for a spring break trip in Texas to take on SMU and Texas. The Penguins embark on a 2-game home stand against Washington and Texas A&M following the spring break trip to Texas, before beginning April with a home game against Nevada Reno. The Penguins then play visit to Sonoma State and will end the regular season at home for senor day against Cal Berkeley.
"Last season was very successful. We learned a lot and the guys are hungrier than ever. We have 13 guys who decided to stay on and use their fifth year, and a strong group of seniors, junior and sophomores, as well as a great incoming freshman class that is making an impact on the field. We have one of the deepest teams in years and are very mature, head coach Sammy Vogel-Seidenberg said. "We have added 13 new players, including a pair of transfer student-athletes."
