SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican women's soccer head coach
Kelly Coffey announced the signing of nine players in the February signing period Tuesday.
"We are very excited about our recruiting class for this fall," Coffey said. "We have a fantastic mix of student athletes that fit in well and espouse the core values of Dominican University and our soccer program here. We look to bring student athletes into the program that are not only excellent players and students, but high in character as well. Each of these young ladies embody all three of those characteristics. The bar has been raised on the field for women's soccer at Dominican by the current group student athletes in our program and we are happy to welcome the next generation of 'Pengs' into the program to help raise the bar even further!"
Lexi Martinez (Petaluma, Calif./Santa Rosa Junior College)

Accomplishments: Named North Bay League (NBL) All-League Second Team for the 2013-2014 and 2015-16 seasons…Was a 2014-2015 NBL All-League First Team player…2015-2016 Defensive MVP…Was a team captain for Santa Rosa Junior College last season…2017-2018 all-conference selection…2017-2018 Defensive MVP for the Bear Cubs.
Coffey on Martinez - "Lexi can play anywhere across the backline and brings a wealth of club and college experience to the program. Transferring from Santa Rosa JC, Lexi has excellent leadership qualities and will integrate smoothly into the team. She makes good decisions on the ball and is not afraid to get into tough challenges."

Gracie Polen (Vacaville, Calif./Vacaville HS)

Gillian Day (Windsor, Calif./Windsor HS)

Accomplishments: In 2016, Day was a North Bay League All-League Second Team selection…The Wizards were NCS D1 Finalists…Windsor High School Team MVP, Players Award, Coaches Award and two-time team captain (2016, 2017)…In 2014, Day was an honorable mention NBL All-League Selection…Was a team captain of the North Coast Futbol Club…currently plays for Santa Rosa United in the Elite Club National League…Scholar Student Athlete (2014-2018) and CSF member/honor roll.
Coffey on Day - "Gillian is a technically solid midfielder that makes good decisions on the ball. She is a hard worker and gives an honest effort every time she steps on the field. Gillian has an intelligent soccer brain and brings great enthusiasm to the program."
Hannah Bonfils (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS)

Coffey on Bonfils - "Hannah is a dynamic attacking player that can play anywhere in the midfield. Coming from the Blues FC in Sacramento, Hannah is very good going forward and scoring goals or creating chances for her teammates. She has a tremendous work rate and a gritty, competitive attitude."
Ana Herrera (American Canyon, Calif./American Canyon HS)

Coffey on Herrera - "Ana is dynamic attacking player that can score goals and create chances for others. Coming from the strong Davis Legacy Club, Ana can play as the target or underneath the striker. She is a hard worker and has a fantastic attitude and will fit in well with the attacking players in our program."

Amanda Harris (Lodi, Calif./Lodi HS)

Accomplishments: Four Year Varsity Player…Was also part of the varsity track team…Was named as an all-league player…Captain of her High School Team…Placed first at the State Cup Premier Champions in 2017 with Blues FC…Student Athlete Of the year in 2016…Academic Block L…Four year honor student.
Coffey on Harris - "Amanda Harris brings great energy and passion to the program. Playing her club soccer with Blues FC, Amanda is an athletic outside back that gets up and down the flanks with her pace. She has the ability to play on both sides of the backline and is an excellent 1v1 defender."
Sofia Odron (Anchorage, Alaska/A.J Dimond HS)

Accomplishments: Second Team All-Conference from her freshman to junior year in high school…Alaska State Champions in 2016 and 2017…Gold Academic Letter all four years…Was given the AP Scholar Award as a junior.
Coffey on Odron - "Sofia is our first ever recruit from Alaska on the women's side at Dominican! She comes from the Cook Inlet Soccer club and is a creative, hardworking midfielder that covers ground up and down the field. She plays with a bit of chip on her shoulder and takes pride in playing on both sides of the ball."
Katie Bianchi (Windsor, Calif./Windsor HS)

Accomplishments: Won the golden boot as a freshman and junior for Windsor High School…Named team MVP as a junior…Participates in the ECNL…First person in her family to attend college.
Coffey on Bianchi - "Katie is a multidimensional attacking player that can play capably as an attacking midfielder or any of the front 3 positions. Katie played her club soccer with Santa Rosa United and brings creativity and excellent attacking ability to our program."
Claire Brown (Santa Rosa, Calif./Analy HS)

Coffey on Brown - "Claire, who also played for Santa Rosa United ECNL is a pacy wing player that can score goals and create chances from the wide channels. She is a creative in the middle and attacking third and her movement off the ball is very intelligent. She brings athleticism and depth to our team."
