Penguins fall in overtime to Sunbirds

Alyssa Ramos made eight saves on Thursday against the Sunbirds
Box Score FRESNO. Calif. -- Dominican women's soccer held off Fresno Pacific in regulation, but a Sunbirds goal in overtime was enough gave them the 1-0 in the Pacific West Conference opener for both schools.
 
Dominican (2-3-1, 0-1 PacWest) was outshot by Fresno Pacific 28-10, but sophomore goalie Alyssa Ramos held her own with eight saves in the match.
 
The Penguins had four shots on goal, with the last one in the 86th minute as senior Lina Miller attempted a shot that was saved by Sunbirds goalie Summer Hammond. Senior Mariah Meza led Dominican with three shots.
 
Fresno Pacific's Anissia Gonzalez scored the only goal in the match in the 96th minute on a rebound assist from Jordyn Ryfiak, with Gonzalez shooting into the lower right corner of the goal to end the game.
 
The Penguins will continue PacWest play Saturday as they travel to San Francisco to face Academy of Art at noon PDT. Live stats and video will be available online.
