Box Score HILO, Hawaii -- Juniors
Keira Dagy and
Michelle Li scored a goal apiece to solidify a second road win in Hawaii for Dominican women's soccer Saturday, 2-0 over the University of Hawai'i at Hilo at Paiea Stadium.
Â
The Vulcans (6-8-1, 3-7-1 PacWest) outshot the Penguins (6-8-2, 4-6-1 PacWest) 8-6, and each team had four shots on goal. However, Dominican was able to capitalize on offense and defense, with sophomore goalie
Alyssa Ramos earning four saves in the game.
Â
Dagy scored her first goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 66th minute to give Dominican the first goal of the game after a scoreless first half. Ten minutes later, junior
Alyssa Campbell sent a perfect cross to Li in front of the goal and Li tapped it into the net to double the lead. The defense ensured the victory by not allowing the Vulcans a shot on goal in the second half and limited them to two shots total.
Â
Hilo had most of the momentum in the first half pressuring Ramos with six total shots and holding Dominican to three, but Ramos never let a ball cross the goal line in her fourth shutout of the season.
Bailey Kiser had the first shot on goal for the Penguins in the 11th minute, and freshman
Mia Venne added another in the 42nd minute, but neither was able to put the ball past Hilo's Jenna Hufford.
Â
The Penguins will return home Thursday to host California Baptist at 2:30 p.m. PST. Live stats and video will be available online.
