Box Score Belmont, Calif. – Dominican women's soccer lost 2-1 to Dixie State on Tuesday at Koret Field on the campus of Notre Dame de Namur.
The Penguins (3-7-1, 1-5 PacWest) had a pair of corner kicks in the first few minutes but were unable to convert on either attempt. The Trailblazers (8-3, 4-2 PacWest) had a couple opportunities just minutes later on corner kicks but neither connected.
Darian Murdock broke the seal for Dixie State at the 18
th minute with her 11
th goal of the season coming on a goal kick. Just over six minutes later, Dominican got on the board with a free kick to tie the game 1-1 on freshman
Kayla Kukaua's first goal of the season, assisted by
Keira Dagy and
Ivy Torres. The score remained the same at the end of the first half.
The Trailblazers struck quickly coming out of the break off a corner kick on Murdock's second goal of the game, just 54 seconds into the half. The Penguins looked to respond quickly as
Bailey Kiser had a shot saved in the 46
th minute and one go high in the 53
rd minute. Torres put an attempt on goal in the 64
th minute but it was saved by Trailblazer goalkeeper Felicity Carr. Junior
Lily Dubuc attempted a header in the 70
th minute but Carr made another save to preserve the lead for Dixie State.
The Penguins take the field again on Saturday as they host Notre Dame de Namur at noon PDT. Live stats and video will be available online.
