AZUSA, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's soccer team dropped a close 1-0 decision at second-place Azusa Pacific on Thursday evening.

The Penguins (1-3-3/1-1-1 PacWest), who entered play averaging 14.67 shots per game, were held to a season lows of four shots, as well as a season low two shots on goal. Dominican nearly tied the contest in the 73rd minute but Ivy Torres' shot from the top of the box was saved by Cougars goalkeeper Sarah Klinkenberg. Allyn Brown's goal in the 24th minute was the difference for Azusa Pacific (4-3-2/2-1-1 PacWest). Her shot from 18 yards out came in the 24th minute off a pass from Mikaela Truckey. Dominican goalkeeper Alyssa Ramos, who was named last week's PacWest Freshman of the Week, got a hand on Brown's shot but the ball hit the frame and trickled into the net.
