SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California softball team dropped both games of Sunday's doubleheader with Concordia Irvine, both by the score of 5-0.
A day after the Penguins (3-12/1-3 PacWest) split with the Eagles (19-2/3-1 PacWest), Dominican's offense fell dormant while errors proved problematic and led to seven unearned runs. Grayson Harvey (10-0) earned the game one win for the Eagles while Susana Gurney (5-1) earned the win in game two. Both pitchers allowed just three hits in each game.
Katelyn Harden allowed five runs over 2.1 innings to start game one but only two of those runs were earned.
Ashlyn Moriarity threw 4.2 innings of scoreless relief and allowed just one hit with a strikeout.
Kelsey Goodner started game two and gave up four runs, only one earned, in three innings.
Gaby Katafias gave up two hits in four innings of relief and allowed one unearned run to lower her ERA to a team-best 1.80.
Harden had a pair of hits and drew two walks.
Tayler Munoz also had a pair of hits for the Penguins.
Dominican now departs for a 10-game trip to Hawaii consisting of five doubleheaders. The trip begins Saturday, March 5 at UH Hilo.
