IRVINE, Calif. — Dominican University of California women's soccer player
Alyssa Ramos has been named PacWest Freshman of the Week for the third time. The award is based on games played Oct. 24-30. Ramos shared the award with Notre Dame de Namur's Vanessa Sanchez.
Ramos had a career-night at Dixie State, leading the Penguins to a 1-0 victory. She made a career-high 13 saves for her fifth shutout of the season to snap the Trailblazer's seven-game winning streak. Ramos has an .848 save percentage, which is tied for the PacWest lead with Azusa Pacific's Sarah Klinkenberg, who was named Defender of the Week.
The Penguins (7-5-4/6-3-2 PacWest) have matched their most wins in an 18-match season with two matches remaining and could notch their first winning season in the Division II era on Thurdsday, Nov. 3 when Chaminade (3-10-1/3-7-1 PacWest) visits. The Penguins finish the season against BYU-Hawaii (5-8-2/4-6-1 PacWest) on Saturday, Nov. 5. Both matches will begin at 2:30 p.m. Live stats and pay-per-view video will be available at
