IRVINE, Calif. — Dominican University of California's
Alyssa Ramos has been named this week's PacWest Women's Soccer Freshman of the Week. The awards is based on matches played Oct. 10-16.
Ramos earned her second career honor, as her play in goal kept Dominican alive for two late wins on the week. She posted two shutouts with seven total saves. Ramos made six saves against Notre Dame de Namur, keeping the scoresheet clean for the Penguins to score the game-winner in double overtime. She made one save in a 2-0 regulation win over Academy of Art, with both scores coming in the final 10 minutes. Ramos is fourth in the PacWest in shutouts (4) and save percentage (.831).
The Penguins (5-4-4/4-2-2 PacWest) will now embark on the second Southern Californian road trip of the season. This time, Dominican will visit fourth-place Concordia (8-0-4/4-0-3 PacWest) on Thursday, Oct. 20 and California Baptist (5-4-3/4-1-2 PacWest) on Saturday, Oct. 22. Dominican is currently tied for fifth place with CBU with 14 points.
