Box Score NAMPA, Idaho — A promising comeback turned into another loss for the Dominican University of California women's soccer team on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Central Washington University.
The Wildcats (1-3) struck first in the 36th minute when CWU goalie Kayla Lipston played a ball to Meghan Ward, who found Viktoriya Vasina for the goal.
Lipston made five saves on the defensive end. Dominican keeper
Ashley Lentz made four saves but allowed two more in the second half after Dominican tied the game in the 47th minute.
Peyton Jones came off the bench to start the second half and snuck through the defense and scored but the Wildcats regained the lead in the 61st minute.
Hadli Farrand netted the game-winner when she broke through two tackles and beat Lentz. A late goal in the 89th minute by Mackenzie Nolte gave the Wildcats cushion headed into the final minute of play.
The Penguins had their chances, tallying 13 goals, six on frame.
Dominican will look to bounce back on Monday vs. Northwest Nazarene. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. in Idaho.
