Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Dominican University of California men's lacrosse team clamped down when it had to and opened up its four game road trip with a 13-10 victory at Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday.
Dalton Copeland got things going with an unassisted look two minutes into action to give the Penguins (2-0) the early advantage. Queens (3-3) responded with a pair of goals to take a lead of its own.
Jake Bernstein found the back of the net just over a minute later to knot the first quarter at 2-2.

Jack Beall goals in the second quarter kept the Penguins a step ahead and goals from
Jake Fritz and
Cody Bernstein gave Dominican a 6-4 lead. The Royals scored one more before intermission to cut the lead to 6-5 but the Penguins would never relinquish the lead.

Kevin Powers to make it 7-5 early in the third quarter and the two teams would trade goals until the Penguins rallied for three consecutive goals to build an 11-7 lead.
Each of the Bernsteins finished their night with three goals.
Cody Bernstein had a pair of assists and his older brother, Jake, was an efficient 3-for-5 with an assist. Beall and Clifford each scored twice. Copeland, Fritz, and Powers all chipped in one goal apiece.

Sean Donohue recorded 10 saves to earn the victory.
Queen's Casey Hock led all players with four goals.
"Our defense really stepped up late in the game when we needed them most, and Sean made some incredible saves in tight," said Head Coach Ned Webster. "I think our program matured quite a bit tonight with this win versus a very solid, well-coached team."
The Penguins will look to keep their hot start going on Tuesday, March 11 at No. 10 Pfeiffer University. The Penguins fell 9-6 to the Falcons, ranked No. 10 at that time also, in their lone meeting last season. Faceoff is slated for 4:00 p.m. in Misenheimer, N.C.
