SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican made a leadership change to its men's lacrosse program Monday.
Given the timing of the changes and the health of the team, the Penguins will suspend competition for the remainder of the semester to focus on the health and academics of current student-athletes, while also beginning recruitment to grow and support the future of the program.
Dylan Snyder has been retained as the interim head coach to oversee the program during this period of transition and will lead the recruitment and retention efforts.
"This was a difficult decision, but in assessing the health of our team, it was determined that we do not have the necessary level of participants to continue to compete safely," athletics director
Amy Henkelman said. "We also took into account our conference mates to ensure it would not affect anyone's eligibility for the automatic qualifier or required NCAA game minimums. We will always make the health and safety of our student-athletes our top priority. We look forward to changing the trajectory of the program and returning to competition in 2027!"
Dominican's final two games will be forfeited in accordance with the conference policy.
