Box Score ST. CHARLES, Mo. — The No. 13 Dominican University of California men's lacrosse team used a strong first half for a 10-6 victory at Lindenwood University on Sunday, making the Penguins' trip to the East Coast a winning one.
While the Penguins (4-1) outscored the Lions (0-4), Dominican was actually outshot 40-33. That challenged redshirt freshman

That strong play at net made up for an off-day in the face-off circle, where Dominican won just five of 20 face-offs.
"When the face-off game is struggling it really puts pressure on the defense and ours stepped up big time today," said Dominican Head Coach Ned Webster. "We didn't have the ball much in the second half. Reis made the saves we needed today as well as a few clutch ones on the doorstep. I'm excited to see this team gel each week moving forward."
Dalton Copeland's team-leading sixth assist to
Kevin Powers put the Penguins up on the scoreboard less than a minute into play and Dominican would never relinquish that lead. Four minutes later, Powers teamed up with
Grant Clifford and less than a minute after that second goal, Dominican led 3-0 on an unassisted look from
Jake Fritz.
