Women's soccer falls in overtime at UH Hilo

Kendra Corsberg (11) wins a header against Kristine Pasek in Saturday's loss at UH Hilo.
Box Score HILO, Hawai'i — Lauren Gollnick tied the game in the 81st minute but the Dominican University of California women's soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime at UH Hilo on Saturday.

The Penguins (6-7-2/3-5-1) gave the Vulcans (8-3-1/5-3-0) a good scare but the home team defended its home field, where UH Hilo is yet to lose a game this season.

Dominican trailed most of the game after Lindsey Poulson connected with Kristine Pasek for her team-leading third goal in the 32nd minute.

The game saw little other action with Dominican taking just two shots to UH Hilo's three. The Penguins finally struck on Gollnick's score, which tied the game at 1-1 and tied her for the team lead with five goals.

That sent to Dominican into overtime for the fourth time this season but Moressa Lindsey's first goal of the season put the Vulcans on top in the 94th minute.

After going just 1-3 on the road trip, Dominican returns home for its last remaining home games of the season on Thursday, Oct. 24 vs. California Baptist and Saturday, Oct. 26 vs. Azusa Pacific, which is also Senior Day. The regular season concludes on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Notre Dame de Namur.
