Mckenna Kimball scored in her fourth consecutive game but the Dominican University of California women's soccer fell 2-1 in Saturday's Pacific West Conference match at BYU-Hawaii.
Kimball gave the Penguins (5-5-2/2-3-1) the early lead with her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 22nd minute. She put the ball in after
Stephanie Pawek's shot was blocked by a defender.
The Seasiders (2-4-2/1-3-1) tied it up in the 51st minute on Kim Micheletti's goal, then took the lead at 82:59. Tasha Campbell connected with McKenzie Evans, who outran the defense and snuck a slow roller past Dominican goalkeeper
Megan Herring.
Neither team recorded a shot in the final seven minutes. The Penguins were outshot for the match 13-6, though Dominican had a 5-4 advantage when it came to shots on goal. BYU-Hawaii also held a 5-2 corner kick advantage.
The Penguins will head to Honolulu on Monday, Oct. 14 for their second match of the PacWest road trip. They'll face the Silver Swords of Chaminade University at 10:00 a.m. HST.
