Noisat Named to PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for Third Straight Week

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — Coming off a game-high 17-point, eight-rebound performance last Saturday night, 6-foot-8 Dominican University of California center Jacob Noisat has been named to the Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll in men's basketball for the third consecutive week.

The announcement was made today by the league's media office in Phoenix for games contested Jan. 30 to Feb. 5.

It is the seventh time this season that Noisat has been selected to the league's honor roll.

Noisat, a product of Elsie Allen High School in Santa Rosa, led the Penguins to a 2-0 week by averaging 16 points and 5.5 rebounds a game while shooting 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from the field and 70.6 percent (12-of-17) from the foul line. He tied for fourth in scoring for the week in the PacWest and moved up to 17th in the league in scoring overall with an 11.6 points per game average.

The Penguins' 220-pound center is also sixth in the PacWest in field goal percentage (.538) and seventh in the league in rebounding (6.3 pg).
Noisat's defensive effort at NDNU last Saturday night contributed to an opponents' season-low 45 points, the fewest points a Dominican team has allowed in a game since a 62-44 win at Pacific Union College on Dec. 20, 2008 when the Penguins were members of the NAIA Division II California Pacific Conference.

Dominican's victory last Saturday night was its third in a row, its first three-game winning streak in NCAA Division II and its longest since the Penguins won five consecutive games from Jan. 22 to Feb. 5, 2009 as a member of the CalPac.

The Penguins, picked to finish last this season in a PacWest coaches'  preseason poll, have an opportunity to pull into a fifth-place tie with idle Grand Canyon University with a victory at home over Academy of Art University on Tuesday, February 7. Game time in the Conlan Center is 7:30 p.m. That game will be broadcast live online at www.dominicanathletics.com/livevideo and http://radio.dominican.edu.
