Box Score LAIE, Hawai'i — The Dominican University of California women's soccer team was looking to leave Hawai'i with a win for the first time at BYU-Hawaii since joining the Pacific West Conference in 2009. Unfortunately for Dominican, the Seasiders' Terryn Soelberg found the back of the net after 71 minutes of scoreless soccer, making 1-0 winners of BYU-Hawaii.
Soelberg's game-winner, her team-leading sixth goal of the season, came on a short pass from Brittney Evans in front of the goal mouth. The BYU-Hawaii (9-4-2/7-3-2) goal knocked Dominican goalkeeper
Megan Herring's shutout percentage a tick below .900 at .899 for the first time all season but she remains in the Top 10 of NCAA Division II goalkeepers. Herring made saves in her other eight opportunities.
The Lady Penguins (7-7-2/6-5-2) were outshot just 14-11 but held to a pair of shots on goal from senior
Julianna Bratsberg in the sixth minute and freshman
Stephanie Owens, who tried to score on the rebound from a blocked shot taken by freshman
Lauren Gollnick.
After going 1-1-1 in Hawai'i, Dominican returns home to the mainland for its final regular season match of the season, at home vs. Point Loma, on Saturday, Nov. 3. The Lady Penguins will honor their five seniors — Bratsberg,
Mallory Engelhardt,
Alex Moran,
Mary Wheeler, and
Emily Whitaker — before the 1:30 p.m. match at Kennelly Field. Live coverage will be available at
