Box Score PHOENIX, Ariz. — The Dominican University of California women's soccer team lost for the first time in four matches on Saturday with a 2-0 loss to Grand Canyon University.
A goal just six minutes in by Gab Zavala de Rojas that was deflected by the Lady Penguin defense put GCU (7-4-2/6-1-2) up early. The Dominican (5-5-1/4-3-1) defense held pat for over an hour of play but gave way to an insurance goal in the 73rd minute on an unassited goal by Jessica Fitzgerald from the right side.

The Lady Penguins return home on Oct. 18 seeking revenge vs. Academy of Art University. The Urban Knights snuck off with a 1-0 win in the final minute in San Francisco on Sept. 27. On Oct. 20 the Dominican soccer teams will "Kick Out Breast Cancer" by wearing pink jerseys that will be auctioned off, with a portion of the proceeds going to Marin General Hospital Foundation.
