BELMONT, N.C. — The Dominican University of California men's lacrosse team dropped the first game of its three-game roadtrip through North Carolina on Monday with a 13-10 loss to Belmont Abbey College at Alumni Field. The game, originally scheduled for Sunday, was postponed a day due to rain.
Belmont Abbey (3-2) outscored Dominican (1-1) 3-1 in the first quarter and led 7-2 at halftime. The Penguins outscored the Crusaders 3-2 in the third quarter to trim the deficit to 9-5 and outscored the Crusaders again the fourth quarter, 5-4, but were unable to undo the first-half damage.
The Penguins were bested 45-42 on ground balls and won 11 of the day's 26 faceoffs.
Eight different Crusaders scored. Ryan Corrigan and Tanner Scharr each recorded three goals apiece.

Emmett Faricy also scored a goal for his team-leading fifth goal of the season. Copeland, Little, and Upson all added one assist apiece.

Sean Donohue made nine saves. Abbey goalkeepers Tony Kikola, Merrick Reiland, and J.J. Rowan stopped a combined nine shots.
On Tuesday, March 8, Dominican heads to Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C. Faceoff is slated for 6:00 p.m./3:00 p.m. Pacific.
