PHOENIX, Ariz. — Dominican University of California center
Jacob Noisat came off the bench on Saturday night's game at Western Washington University with an effort that has earned him a spot on the Pacific West Conference's Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll this week. The accomplishment was announced today by the league's media office in Phoenix for games contested November 14-20.
The 6-foot-8, 220-pounder connected on 5-of-8 field goal tries and 2-of-2 free throw attempts to score a team-high 12 points in 20 minutes in the Penguins' non-conference game in Bellingham, Wash. Noisat also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and keyed a second-half comeback that pushed Dominican within two points of the 5-1 Vikings with 1:34 to play in the contest.
Noisat, a junior Humanities major, started the first four games of the season for the Penguins. He is averaging a team-high six rebounds and 0.8 blocked shots a game through the first five games. His 7.2 points per game scoring average is fifth highest on the squad. He has netted 16-of-34 shots from the floor this season for a .471 shooting percentage, fourth best for Dominican.
Last season, the Elsie Allen High School product out of Santa Rosa was a first-team All-Coast North Division I at Chabot College in Hayward. He averaged nine points, nine rebounds and shot 58 percent from the floor in leading the Gladiators to the state playoffs. Noisat considered offers from the University of Nevada and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before transferring to Dominican.
Prior to Chabot College, Noisat attended Cal State East Bay where he led the team in rebounding. He averaged 13.9 points, 10.6 rebounds and two blocked shots a game for the Elsie Allen Lobos as a senior.
The Penguins return to the court on Friday when they play Sonoma State University in the Notre Dame de Namur Classic in Belmont. Game time is 5:00 p.m.
