MOUNTAIN LAKE, NJ — The Dominican University of California men's lacrosse team capped its four-game road trip to the East Coast in winning fashion, topping New York's Mercy College 10-9 on Saturday afternoon.

The Flyers (1-3) scored first but Reed Upson took the ball himself and scored for the Penguins (2-5) to tie the game at 1-1. Things didn't look good for Dominican after, as Mercy strung together a four-goal run in the next 12 minutes. Dominican responded though, first with a goal by Zach Rodriguez from Jim Little. Rodriguez's goal sparked a six-goal run that stretched from 9:44 in the second quarter to 12:17 in the fourth quarter and swung the lead into Dominican's favor for good at 7-5. Mercy scored at 11:36 to pull within a goal but Dominican fired off three insurance goals that would prove necessary and took a 10-6 lead in the final two minutes. Mercy rallied late, scoring three goals in a matter of a minute but Dominican was able to fend off the Flyers for the final minute to record the victory.

Kyle Mitchell connected on all of his shots to lead Dominican with three goals scored. Matt Polizzi also was perfect shooting and scored twice. Cameron Delapp came off the bench to score a pair of goals, including the game-winner, and made an assist. Little added a goal. Rodriguez and Upson each chipped in two assists in the win.
