Stanford's big second half tops Dominican

Reed Upson scored twice and had an assist.
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's lacrosse team fell to Stanford University 12-6 on Saturday afternoon.

The Penguins fought hard, trailing just 6-4 at the end of the first half. Shorthanded due to injury, Dominican looked tired from their recent trip to Southern California and lost steam late in the second half.  The Cardinal outshot the Penguins 21-9 in the second half and pushed the lead from 8-6 to 12-6 in a matter of five minutes.

Sophomore middie Emmett Faricy led Dominican with three goals and an assist. Freshman attackman Reed Upson added two goals and an assist.  Junior attackman Lawrence Nardi continued his scoring streak, having scored in all eight of the Penguins' games this season. Freshman attackman Corey Botwinick doled out three assists in the loss.

Freshman attackman Sammy Romer led all scorers with 4 goals and an assist for the Cardinal.

With the loss, Dominican drops to 3-5 on the season while the Cardinal improves to 7-1. The Penguins will welcome Molloy College from New York on Thursday, March 19. Faceoff starts at 4:00 p.m.
