SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — Eleanna Mendez didn't disappoint on her Senior Day, as she helped lift the Dominican University of California women's soccer team to a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Notre Dame de Namur University on Thursday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play.

The Lady Penguins (7-8-3/5-5-2) looked to be staring at their second loss at the hands of the Argos (6-10-1/6-5-1) when NDNU jumped out to a 2-0 lead within the first ten minutes of play.

Mendez found Bridget Folan in the 17th minute to cut the Argos' lead in half. Folan chipped a shot into the empty net when NDNU's goalkeeper charged forward to defend the shot.

In the 38th minute, a cross by NDNU was settled and drilled above Dominican keeper Alicia Paulsen's head.

The Dominican offense got things going early in the second half when Folan found Mendez for her team-leading sixth goal to pull the Lady Penguins within a goal.

Stephanie Malone took her share of the team lead also with her sixth goal of the season in the 69 minute. A throw in by Katie Brown was settled by Folan, who found the freshman in front of the goal to even everything at three goals apiece.

Shayna Elkins netted the game winner in the 75th minute off of another Brown throw in.

Dominican outshot NDNU 19-14, including 11-9 shots on goal.

Paulsen, who struggled in the first half, allowing three goals while making three saves, was replaced in the second half. Jill Rizo picked up the victory with a scoreless second half and three saves.

The Lady Penguins finish their season on the road with trips to Grand Canyon University in Arizona on Nov. 1 and Dixie State College in Utah on Nov. 3.
