HPU gets best of Lady Penguins in rematch

BOX SCORE

HONOLULU, HI — The Dominican University of California women's soccer team fell in its rematch with Hawai'i Pacific University 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play.

The Lady Penguins (5-7-3/3-4-2) were outshot by the Sea Warriors (7-5-1/5-3-0) by a margin of 16-7, a stark contrast to Dominican's 6-0 victory earlier in the month, where the Lady Penguins outshot HPU 11-4.

HPU scored its first goal in the 18 minute and tacked on a second goal in the 39 minute.  A goal inside the left of the box extended the Sea Warriors lead two minutes into the second half.

Dominican's lone goal in the 74 minute came off of a throw-in by Katie Brown to Stephanie Malone, who tallied her fifth goal of the season.

An HPU goal in the 83 minute put the game out of reach for the Lady Penguins.

Dominican continues PacWest play on Thursday, when they travel to BYU-Hawaii. Kickoff is slated for 10:00 a.m./1:00 p.m. Pacific.
