BELMONT, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's soccer team was given a tough pill to swallow on Saturday, as it fell to Notre Dame de Namur University 1-0 in Pacific West Conference play.
The Lady Penguins and Argos played closely, and the Lady Penguins held a slight 12-11 shot advantage, seven of which came in the first half for Dominican.
Alicia Paulsen made a fine diving save - one of seven - to keep NDNU at bay in the first half.
NDNU's offense picked up in the second half, outshooting Dominican 7-5 in the final 45 minutes. Alexis Tershay scored a penalty kick in the 82 minute to give NDNU the victory.
Dominican only used one substitute in the entire match.
The Lady Penguins are back home Thursday, Oct. 8. They face Hawai'i Pacific University in PacWest play at 4:00 p.m.
