SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with the University of Hawai'i at Hilo in Pacific West Conference play on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Penguins (4-6-3/2-3-2) scored first, just two minutes in, on a shot by
Bridget Folan from a throw-in by
Katie Brown. Despite being outshot 4-2 in the first half, Dominican held on to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Jessica Snell evened things up in the 50th minute for the Vulcans (3-7-3/2-3-2). Neither team scored in the final hour of play.
Both teams finished the day with eight shots apiece. Hilo held a slight 7-5 corner kick advantage.
Alicia Paulsen made seven saves while giving up the one goal in all 110 minutes of play.
The Lady Penguins travel to San Franisco's Kezar Stadium to face Academy of Art University on Saturday, Oct. 17. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
