SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's soccer team fell late to BYU-Hawaii 1-0 on Monday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play.
The Lady Penguins (4-6-2/2-3-1) played the second place Seasiders (8-2-0/6-1-0) tough, outshooting BYU-Hawaii 13-6, including 10-4 in the first half. However, Dominican only placed five shots on frame to BYU-Hawaii's four.
The Seasiders' Margaret Sekona netted the game-winner in the 74th minute off of an assist from Tara McPartland.
Eleanna Mendez took three shots on goal for the Lady Penguins.
Alicia Paulsen took the loss in the net for Dominican and made three saves.
The Lady Penguins conclude their homestand on Wednesday, Oct. 14 when they host the University of Hawai'i at Hilo. The scheduled 4:00 p.m. kickoff follows the 2:00 p.m. men's match.
