Dominican fights Wilmington tough

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.- Dominican women's lacrosse (4-1,1-0) hosted Wilmington University in a match-up of two unbeaten teams Wednesday afternoon. Graduate student leader Ryan Bionda led the Penguin offense as she went for a game high five goals while scooping up a couple ground balls.

Bionda, the Ontario native, gave the Wildcats fits all afternoon and it started early as she posted the first two points of the game. The Wildcats would go on a run of their own midway through the second, but Dominican never backed down. Inside the final two minutes before half, Morgan Newkirk called her own number and then it was junior Alayna Cipolla showing toughness as she collected a goal while getting fouled with 12 seconds left.

Olivia Johnson was everywhere today for the Pengs as she won a game high 12 draw controls to kick-start her offense while swiping a game high four steals. The Washington native also led the team in ground balls with four while teammate Sienna Prak-Perry was right behind her with three.

Dominican will wrap up their home slate of games for the season March. 5th when they take on SVSU for senior day at 3 p.m.
