Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Penguins host Chargers Wednesday afternoon

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.- Dominican men's lacrosse squared off against the Chargers of Dominican New York in what was dubbed the "Battle of Dominican's" Wednesday afternoon. Both teams brought the intensity as it was a close game throughout, but it would be Dominican New York coming away with the 11-8 victory.

Will Elfline, the sophomore out of Arizona, led the Penguins offense as he went for a game high five goals against the Chargers. He would collect the black and golds first two points of the game when he found soft spots in the Chargers defense. Hunter Smith continued to tear it up at the face off for the Pengs as won a game high 12 while also scooping up a game high eight ground balls.

Much of the first half was a defensive struggle with the Pengs holding their opponent to three points. Wyatt Holtman, the freshman out of Colorado led the Dominican (CA) defense on the backend coming up with two steals. Goalie Cole Rutz logged huge minutes for the Pengs as he led the team with nine saves.

The Penguins offense opened up in the second half as they collected six goals with the first coming one minute into the third courtesy of Tanner Ennis who called his own number. The black and gold would then go on a 3-0 run led by Elfline who had two goals during that run.

Dominican (CA) will be back on the field March. 6th as they face conference foe Northwest Nazarene at 12 p.m.
