Penguins wrap-up southern road trip

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama- Dominican men's lacrosse (0-2) concluded their southern road trip Sunday morning taking on the Chargers of University of Alabama Huntsville. Senior leader Tanner Ennis led the way offensively for the Pengs as he collected three goals while scooping up a ground ball.

Will Elfline got the day started for the black and gold when he received a nice dish from teammate Mateo Polanco and rocketed past the goalie to tie the game at one. A couple minutes later it was freshman Calvin Welsh continuing his hot start to the season when he weaved past Charger defenders for the Pengs second goal of the day.

Ennis made his presence felt in the second where he scored two of his goals giving the UAH defense fits. Dominican would finish the first half on a 2-0 run to tie the game heading into the lockers. Their defense was stout throughout the half playing aggressive and holding the Chargers to six goals.

Junior Cole Rutz once again picked up double digit saves while he commanded the defense for the Pengs. Hunter Smith continues to be the leader in the faceoff department leading the way with a team high 13 while scooping up a game high 10 ground balls.

The black and gold will be back on the field March. 4th at 12 p.m. when they host Dominican N.Y.
