Shane Haley named Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach

Penguins promote Haley

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Domincian men's basketball announced the elevation of Shane Haley to the position of Associate Head Coach after the departure of Matt Okada this summer.

"I'm extremely excited that Shane is being elevated to his new position as associate head coach," head coach Justin Argenal said. "He worked very hard over the last year and made an impact not only in our program but our department. He has done a great job connecting with our student-athletes and being a positive influence on and off the court. I am excited to see the impact he has on our program moving forward."

Haley joined the Penguin staff for the 2024-25 season as an assistant under Argenal. He brings over eight years of coaching experience serving as the program director and head coach for Prime Hoops in Dallas, Texas, prior to his time at Dominican. He also served as an assistant coach at Clayton Valley Charter High School during the COVID shortened 2020-21 season helping the Eagles to a 12-3 record and second place finish in the DAL.

"I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to continue coaching with at Dominican under coach Argenal," Haley said. "I feel we have put together a special group of student athletes this year, and I look forward to helping them build a winning culture on and off the court here at DUC. Go Penguins!"

Haley played locally at California High School in San Ramon where he earned First Team All-EBAL honors. He went on to play at Chabot College before finishing his career at Lesley University for the NCAA Division III.  He holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from San Francisco State.
