Dominican wraps up Florida trip

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Dominican men's lacrosse closed out their Florida trip with a showdown against the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic University Sunday afternoon. The Pengs had three players collect two goals each, but it wasn't enough as the Sailfish earned the 19-9 victory.

Palm Beach Atlantic started the game fast jumping out to an early 3-0 lead, but junior Tanner Ennis halted the Sailfish momentum by calling his own number and sending one past the goalie for the Pengs first point. A couple minutes later senior leader Luke Vando followed Ennis's goal with one of his own juking out defenders left and right. Then with 50 seconds left in the first quarter, freshman Joseph Sonner collected his first collegiate goal tying things at three.

The Sailfish would go on to score 14 unanswered points after the Sonner goal. Ennis, Jason Eide, and Chase Pacenta would all finish the game with two goals apiece. Senior Ethan May who has given the Pengs solid minutes at the faceoff position won seven against the Sailfish.

Next up for Dominican is a match-up against Adelphi University on the campus of CUI Mar. 8th at 4 p.m.
