SAN RAFAEL, Calif.- Dominican men's lacrosse earned their first victory of the season on Senior Day Thursday afternoon as they played host to the Grizzlies of Adams State. Senior
Luke Vando and freshman
Chase Pacenta led the way for the Pengs on offense as they each scored four times.
Cole Soper opened the scoring in this one as he found a soft spot in the Grizzlies defense 30 seconds into the game. Then it was graduate student
Connor Barnes who found the back of the net off a nice dish from teammate
Tanner Ennis that gave the Pengs an early 2-0 lead. Fellow graduate student
Jason Eide got his name in the scoring column as he closed out the first quarter with a missile past the goalie.
In the second it was all Penguins as their defense held the Grizzlies scoreless in the quarter.
Tristan Hunter got the start at goal and made life tough on Adams State coming up with four saves while his defense forced 16 caused turnovers.
Dominican had good success in the faceoff department against the Grizzlies as senior leader
Joshua Peavey won 15 with nine groundballs while fellow senior
Ethan May collected 16 faceoffs with a team high 10 groundballs.
In the second half the Grizzlies would try to find some momentum, but it was quickly halted by the offensive firepower from the Pengs. Eleven different players found the back of the net for Dominican with Vando and Pacenta leading the way with four. Right behind them was freshman
Mathew Stasinowsky with three goals.
The Pengs will wrap up their home slate with a Monday afternoon match-up against Westminster at 1 p.m.
