Penguins hang 25 on Dragons, improve to 5-0

10 players find the back of the net for Dominican

Tiffin, Ohio. -Dominican women's lacrosse continued their Midwest road-trip traveling to Tiffin University Tuesday afternoon. After scoring 17 goals Sunday afternoon against Findlay Universitty, the Pengs offense continued to stay hot as they put up a season high 25 goals against the Dragon cruising to a 25-5 victory.

Junior Morgan Newkirk was the driving force behind Dominican offense Tuesday afternoon as she gave Tiffin's defense all they could handle collecting six goals while also winning three draw controls. Newkirk's highlight of the day came in the closing seconds of the third quarter when she received a nice dish from teammate Julianne Lane and riffled one past the goalie to give the Pengs a 19-5 lead. The El Cajon native now has 21 goals and 15 draw controls on the year.

Piper Mott, the freshman out of Washington, was right behind Newkirk in the scoring department finishing with her first four goals of her collegiate career. Mott who has been a solid contributor for the Pengs on the draws this season, took advantage of the soft spots in the Dragons defense finding the back of the net four times to go along with two assists. Fellow freshman Kyra Evans was everywhere on the field for Dominican as she posted two goals, two assists, and three ground balls against the Dragons.

Switching gears to the other side of the ball, the Pengs have now held opponents to five goals in back-to-back games. On the year, no opponent has been able to score in double figures against Dominican. It all starts with junior goalie Natalie Oyler who once again made life tough for the opposing offense coming up with four saves. Oyler flashed her versatility in this one picking up an assist when she found teammate Taylor Pieri all alone for the Pengs 13th point.

Speaking of Pieri, her versatility was on display in this one as she collected a goal, dished one out, came up with three ground balls, and forced two turnovers. Olivia Johnson led the Pengs in the draw control department winning 20 to go along with three goals of her own.

Dominican will wrap up their road-trip March 13th when they travel to Saginaw Valley State at 3 p.m. EST
