BOCA RATON, Fla.- Dominican men's lacrosse headed down south this weekend to face a couple of Florida teams, first up were the Knights of Lynn University on Friday night. This game was close throughout, but the Knights tallied four goals in the fourth period giving them the 13-10 victory.
Freshman
Chase Pacenta, whose earned the start in the first three games of the season, gave the Knights defense problems all game collecting four goals and dishing out an assist. The Colorado native started the game fast calling his own number on the first two goals of the game. Then Pacenta turned into a passer midway through the first when he dished out a nice pass to teammate
Connor Barnes who finished the play off with a missile past the goalie giving the Pengs an early 3-0 lead.
Lynn would storm back tying the game at 3 with 50 seconds left in the first. Senior leader
Luke Vando got Dominican back on top when he put some nifty moves on the Knights defenders finding the back of the net for the Pengs fourth point. Barnes, after scoring in the first quarter, scored again with two seconds left before halftime after receiving a nice pass from fellow graduate student
Joshua Peavey.
Speaking of Peavey, the faceoff specialist went 9 for 16 against the Knights. Peavey won crucial faceoffs in the third leading to the Pengs grabbing a one-point. Pacenta scored his third goal of the night when he juked out a couple of defenders leaving them in the dust with eight seconds left in the third. Then after another faceoff win by Peavey, Pacenta put his fourth goal past the goalie for the 10-9 lead.
The Knights offense would score four unanswered points in the fourth quarter for the 13-10 victory. Dominican will be back on the field March 2
nd at 9 a.m. against Palm Beach Atlantic.
