SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican women's tennis continued its winning ways Thursday afternoon as it topped Jessup 7-0 at Castellucci Family Tennis Center.
The Penguins (4-1) started strong as
Audrey Rafols and
Gina Dudley made quick work at No. 1 doubles with a 6-2 victory over Breana Smith and Nia Macay. Sofia Acuña and
Deepalakshmi Vanaraja clinched the doubles point shortly after with a 6-3 win over their Warrior (0-4) opponents and
Bernadine Salvatierra and
Logan Koitka completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 victory on court three.
Dominican continued to roll in singles as No. 27 Rafols topped Smith 6-0, 6-1 on the top court.
Lorenza Foster-Simbulan saw her first action at singles of her freshman year for the Penguins and made the most of the opportunity winning 6-0, 6-1 over Olivia Gutierrez. Acuña clinched the team victory at No. 4 singles topping Sophia Serdichenko 6-0, 6-0.
Maria Gavrilov notched another singles victory for Dominican at No. 3 singles winning 6-0, 6-1 over Jessup's Angel Cody.
Astrid Craig wasn't far behind making quick work of Rylie Maloney 6-1, 6-0 and Dudley capped off the sweep with a. 6-1, 6-2 victory over Macay in No. 2 singles.
Dominican will be back in action Friday as it takes on Fresno Pacific at 12:30 p.m. PST at Castellucci Family Tennis Center.
