SAN RAFAEL, Calif.- Dominican men's basketball team hosted Academy of Art at the Conlan Center in the classic "Battle of the Bridge." The Urban Knights established dominance early and maintained control throughout the game, resulting in a 69-64 victory.
The Pengs found their rhythm in the third minute when
Sargent Jeffery put them on the board, followed by a sharp three-pointer from
Jordan Archie. However, the Urban Knights quickly regained control and carried their momentum into halftime—until
Darius Best took charge. Leading the team with an impressive 14 points, Best helped close the scoring gap.
Kicking off an intense second half, the Penguins shifted gears, steadily closing in on Art U. Jeffery made an impact on both ends of the floor, recording 9 rebounds, 5 points, and 3 assists. Alongside him, Archie, putting himself further up the scoring sheet, put more pressure on the Urban Knights defense, resulting in 13 points.
With only a five-point deficit in the closing minutes, Dominican continued to fight, forcing 11 turnovers. Best, proving to be a problem for the opposing defense all night, remained a crucial offensive presence, finishing with 18 points. At the end, Rodney Munson took charge for Academy of Art, ending the night with 14 points and big time buckets down the stretch. With only a few seconds left on the clock, the Urban Knights secured the win at the free-throw line, holding off Dominican's late push.
Dominican will wrap up their regular season home slate against Hawai'i Hilo on Wednesday, Feb. 19th, at 7:30 p.m.
