Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Penguins fall to Warriors in SoCal

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- Dominican men's basketball opened their Southern California road trip with a Thursday night PacWest match-up against the Warriors of Westmont College. The Warriors are in their inaugural season in the conference so the Penguins should get used to this SoCal road trip. Westmont looked like a team that was comfortable in their home gym as they would never trail in this one winning 80 to 58.

The Penguins were able to find some success in the Warriors defense as four players finished the game scoring in double-digits. DM Sanders, who drew the start, led the Pengs offense posting 13 points while hitting three from long range. Junior Jorge Ochoa who logged a game high in minutes on the night dropped 12 points to go along with five rebounds.

Sargent Jeffery who has been an enforcer down low for Dominican all season finished the night tied with Ochoa at 12 points on an efficient 5 for 9 from the field. The Penguins totaled 28 points in the paint against Westmont and Jeffery was a big part of it. Darius Best rounded out the scoring for Dominican going for 10 points while being a solid 3 for 4 from the charity stripe.

Dominican will look to bounce back as they continue to travel down south for a match-up against Biola Jan. 18th at 3 p.m.
