PUEBLO, Colo.- Dominican women's lacrosse defeated CSU Pueblo 13-9 earning their first NCAA DII victory in program history. The Penguins were elevated to DII this past fall becoming the first NCAA DII women's lacrosse program in California.
Nora White got the scoring started for Dominican as she sliced through the Thunderwolves defense for an unassisted goal. Moments later
Siena Fairbanks followed her teammates footsteps by scoring a goal of her own. Fairbanks finished the day right behind Pieri with three goals.
Pieri opened her scoring day when she weaved through the CSU Pueblo defense late in the first period giving the Penguins an early 3-1 lead. The second period belonged to Dominican as they scored five times thanks to three goals by
Brooke Vafi. Going into half, the Penguins led 9-6.
Freshman
Julianne Lane kicked off the third period scoring three minutes in. The Penguins wouldn't look back as they never trailed after halftime.
Dominican will travel to Denver March 9
th to square off against Regis University.
