LIBERTY, Mo.- Dominican women's lacrosse wrapped up their Midwest road trip with a bang Tuesday afternoon. The Penguins scored a season high 18 goals against the Cardinals of William Jewell College on their way to a 18 to 6 victory. Graduate student leader
Jacelyn Lazore and freshman
Nora White led the Penguins offense in this one going for four goals each. Fellow freshman
Julianne Lane and sophomore
Taylor Pieri were second collecting three goals apiece.
Sydney Gunnerson scored the first goal of the game as she took a pass from teammate
Siena Fairbanks and rocketed it past the Cardinals goalkeeper for the early lead. Moments later White would collect her first of four goals on the day when she was dished a beautiful pass from Lazore and capitalized giving the Penguins the 2-1 lead. From there, Dominican wouldn't look back as they never fell behind the Cardinals at any point during the game.
Lazore who was tied with White with four goals also dished out a game-high four assists. The New York native was all over the field for the Penguins giving the Cardinals defense all they could handle. The Penguins had been scoring in their last couple of games, but it was their defense that needed to step up. They did that on Tuesday holding William Jewell to six goals and not allowing a goal in the fourth period.
The Penguins will return to action April 8
th when they travel to Beloit College.
